Short answer

You need the UK import registration pack plus the original French registration certificate, purchase evidence and approval or CoC evidence where applicable.

Official position

GOV.UK says DVLA must receive original imported-vehicle documents, including the original foreign registration certificate, proof of approval and evidence showing the date the vehicle was collected. HMRC/NOVA must be processed before DVLA can register the vehicle.

What to do

Keep the original French registration certificate and purchase invoice or bill of sale.

Get the CoC if available, especially for emissions, type approval and list-price related fields.

Resolve NOVA/HMRC status before preparing the DVLA posting pack.

Check if the vehicle needs GB conversion IVA or other approval evidence before registration.
